Kings' Drew Doughty reportedly out for 'at least a week'

Kings defenseman Drew Doughty will be out for "at least a week" because of an upper-body injury, General Manager Dean Lombardi said Thursday morning.

The news was first reported by Rich Hammond, who blogs for the Kings. The team confirmed last night that the 20-year old Norris trophy runner-up would not be traveling with the team to Phoenix for Thursday night's game against the Coyotes but would not disclose what the injury was.

Doughty suffered the injury late in the first period of Wednesday night's game against the Carolina Hurricanes when he was hit hard by Erik Cole. Stay tuned to Fab Forum and to latimes.com/sports for updates. The Times' Helene Elliott just landed in Phoenix and will be reporting from Thursday night's game.
