The Ducks on Monday assigned left wing Josh Green and center Maxime Macenauer to their American Hockey League farm team in Syracuse, N.Y.

Neither played in the Ducks’ preseason finale, a 3-2 overtime victory over the Kings Sunday. Green, 33, had a goal and four points in three preseason games. Macenauer, 20, had an assist in four games. This is a step up for him, since he played in the ECHL last season. He had five goals and 21 points in 45 games with Bakersfield.

The moves left the Ducks with 26 players: 16 forwards, eight defensemen and two goalies. But three of those players are injured wingers Joffrey Lupul and Jason Jaffray and defenseman Toni Lydman. That leaves the Ducks with 23 players, the roster maximum.

Teams can carry fewer than 23 players -- and some do, for salary cap reasons -- but it’s likely this will be the roster when the Ducks open the season Friday at Detroit.
