Doughty leaves Kings game with "upper-body injury" [Updated]

Drew Doughty, the Kings' star young defenseman, is not expected to return to the Kings' game against Carolina on Wednesday night after suffering an undisclosed "upper-body injury."

Doughty played 6:49 in the first period but was absent in the second.

[UPDATED, 11:06 p.m.: Doughty will not travel with the team to Phoenix on Thursday, but Coach Terry Murray said Doughty might join the team later. He described the play Doughty was injured on in the first period as a hit by Erik Cole in the neutral zone “when the puck was long gone.”]
