The city of Del Mar has reached a preliminary agreement to buy the Del Mar fairgrounds and race track from the state for $120 million, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Talks had been ongoing with state officials. The fairgrounds and track have been run by a fair board appointed by the governor. The city would get 400 acres of prime real estate.
