Unapologetic Republican Brock Lesnar didn’t enter into the debate over immigration in a conference call Thursday, when a reporter raised the topic of Lesnar opponent Cain Velasquez‘s roots.

‘I’m all for legal immigration ... but I’m here to talk about a fight Oct. 23,’ Lesnar said, referring to his scheduled Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight title defense against the unbeaten Velasquez at Anaheim’s Honda Center.

Lesnar, coming off a thrilling comeback second-round victory over Shane Carwin in his first bout since suffering an intestinal infection, has previously not held back in criticizing Canada’s public healthcare system and President Obama.

Velasquez was first asked in Thursday’s call to address his views on Arizona’s controversial illegal-immigration law.

‘I’m against, definitely,’ Velasquez told the reporter. ‘Both my parents came into the United States from Mexico.’

The reporter then encouraged Velasquez to tell Lesnar about Velasquez’s walk-in song at UFC fights. ‘It’s a story about a man crossing the border and all the hardships ... ‘ Velasquez said.

Asked what he thought of that, Lesnar said again that he ‘totally supports’ legal immigration, and he noted how his own forefathers came to the U.S. as immigrants. He also repeated he was on the call to talk about the fight.

‘I ain’t got time to talk about my nationality,’ Lesnar said.
