The Milwaukee Brewers have received permission from the Angels to interview bench coach Ron Roenicke for their managerial job, according to Major League Baseball sources. The job opened when the Brewers fired Ken Macha at the end of the regular season.

Roenicke, 54, interviewed by telephone with the Toronto Blue Jays this week. Toronto is looking for a replacement for Manager Cito Gaston, who resigned after the season. Bob Melvinis believed to be the front-runner for the Brewers job, and the team reportedly has interest in Chicago White Sox coach Joey Cora.

Roenicke, who has served 11 seasons under Angels Manager Mike Mike Scioscia, six as third base coach and five as bench coach, interviewed for managerial jobs in Seattle in 2005 and Cleveland in 2009.
