Former UCLA and Dodgers pitcher Tim Leary has been hired as an assistant coach at Cal State Northridge, where he’ll focus on handling the pitchers and helping the new coach, Matt Curtis, with recruiting and fund-raising.

Leary spent five years as pitching coach at UCLA, helping the Bruins reach the College World Series in 1997. He was also pitching coach at Loyola Marymount in 2006.

He was a key player on the Dodgers’ 1988 World Championship team.
