NCAA reverses field and says Jeremiah Masoli can play this year

Usually it's quarterback Jeremiah Masoli who makes the nifty, unexpected moves. Friday, though, it was the NCAA.

Three days after the organization denied his waiver to play at Mississippi this year, the NCAA's Division I Subcommittee for Legislative Relief overturned the ruling.

Oh, what a relief for Masoli, who will now be in uniform for Saturday's opener against Jacksonville State. Masoli led Oregon to the Pac-10 title last year but was dismissed from the team after two off-season run-ins with law enforcement. Masoli, who completed his degree, was allowed to transfer as a graduate student who still had remaining athletic eligibility.

Masoli is enrolled in Mississippi's parks and recreation graduate program.
