Former Dodger Juan Pierre singled and got his major league-leading 61st steal in the sixth inning of the Chicago White Sox’s 4-3 win over the Angels on Sunday, marking the third time he has stolen as many as 60 bases in a season. ‘As you get older, you get smarter,’ said the 33-year-old Pierre, who leads all active players with 519 career steals, good for 30th on the all-time list.

Pierre, who also tripled in a run and scored twice for Chicago, is hitting .273 with 88 runs scored, his best season on offense since his first year with the Dodgers in 2007. He soon is about to sever his final tie to Los Angeles, with the sale of his Marina del Rey home expected to close next week.
