Kings’ rookies beat Coyotes’ rookies, 5-4, in shootout

Brandon Kozun scored the only goal in the shootout as the Kings’ rookies defeated their Phoenix counterparts, 5-4, at Glendale, Ariz.

Thomas Hickey, Kyle Clifford, Jordan Weal and Robbie Czarnik scored during the game. Clifford, making a serious bid for a starting job this season, also got into a fight.

Martin Jones was in goal for the Kings’ rookies, who face the Coyotes’ rookies again Wednesday afternoon in Glendale.

The Kings’ main camp will begin this weekend, with players reporting for physicals Friday and starting practices Saturday.
