Injured jockey Joe Talamo could be backing working out horses as early as Saturday.

Talamo, who broke his wrist during a riding accident at the Del Mar meeting last month, said Monday he will be having a final X-ray taken this week and could be cleared to start working out horses this weekend. He said he has been running 45 minutes a day and lifting weights while trying to get back into shape.

He is eager to return, having lost the mounts on several horses who could be Breeders’ Cup participants. He is scheduled to return to riding full time when the Oak Tree meeting begins at Hollywood Park on Sept. 30.
