As expected, Boise State’s victory over Virginia Tech on Monday has helped strengthen its ranking near the top of the Associated Press top-25 poll.

The Broncos received eight first-place votes but remain locked in at No. 3 behind top-ranked Alabama and Ohio State following college football’s first full week. Boise State’s sensational 33-30 victory over the Hokies helped it close to within 13 points of the Buckeyes.

Florida dropped to No. 8 after its shaky defensive performance against Miami of Ohio on Saturday. And Oklahoma moved down three spots to No. 10 after its 31-24 victory over Utah State.

Pittsburgh and South Carolina fell out the top 25.
