Angels to open, close 2011 season with midweek games

The Angels will open the 2011 season on a Thursday and end it on a Wednesday, according to the schedule released Tuesday.

The Angels begin play March 31 in Kansas City  against the Royals and will face Toronto nine days later in their home opener.

Three National League teams -- the Dodgers, Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals -- will visit Anaheim for interleague play while the Angels will play on the road against the Florida Marlins, New York Mets and Dodgers.

    The regular season concludes at home Sept. 28 against the Texas Rangers.
