A major league source has confirmed a report that Angels scouting director Eddie Bane will interview for the vacant Arizona Diamondbacks general manager job.

Bane, a former Arizona State University pitcher, is in his seventh season with the Angels, and under his direction, the Angels have drafted and signed such highly regarded prospects as Jered Weaver, Kendry Morales, Nick Adenhart, Hank Conger and Mike Trout.

A first-round pick of the Minnesota Twins in the 1973 draft, Bane, 58, appeared in the major leagues during parts of three seasons with the Twins. Before coming to the Angels, he served two years as a special assistant to former Tampa Bay GM Chuck Lamar.

The Diamondbacks also are expected to interview interim GM Jerry Dipoto, former Padres GM Kevin Towers and Dodgers executives Logan White and De Jon Watson.
