Teemu Selanne confirms he is returning to Ducks in one-year-deal
Teemu Selanne confirmed on the Ducks website this morning that he is indeed returning to the team this coming season.
He is expected to sign a contract today for $3.25 million plus bonuses for one season, according to a source close to the negotiations who does not yet have permission to talk about the details publicly.
Selanne, who turned 40 on July 3, is coming off a season in which he had 27 goals and 21 assists despite multiple injuries, including a broken jaw and a broken left hand. Although those injuries limited him to 54 games, he was able to collect his 600th goal, becoming only the third European-born player to do so, and the 18th player in the NHL to hit that mark.He finished the season with 606.
On Friday, he was quoted in a Finnish magazine that he was close to signing a deal with Anaheim.
We'll have all the details later on latimes.com/sports.
