Newest member of bowling hall of fame: Taylor Swift?

August 11, 2010 | 10:54 am

Taylor Swift has been honored many times over for her musical achievements. But it's about time she receives recognition for her bowling skills.

The 20-year-old country-pop sensation has been selected as the 2010 celebrity inductee into the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame in Arlington, Texas.

Surprised? Clearly you haven't seen the video of Swift taking part in some "hardcore bowling" with celebrity pal Selena Gomez:

Okay, so judging from this video, Swift probably isn't being honored for her bowling skills. But she does appear to be enjoying herself  --  and that seems to be the point of her selection into the Hall of Fame.

Swift was one of nine celebrity nominees selected by the Bowling Proprietors' Assn. of America for their public support of bowling. In Swift's case, she frequently has been spotted and photographed hitting the lanes with celebrity friends such as Gomez and Cory Monteith.

The selection process was then turned over to fans for the first time and nearly 1.3 million online votes were cast, with Swift edging teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, 613,324-608,015. Bill Murray was a distant third with 21,451 votes.

Reggie Bush's ex, Kim Kardashian, finished sixth with 3,628 votes. NBA stars Dwight Howard (779 votes) and Chris Paul (663) barely managed to stay out of the bottom spot -- that belonged to late-night TV host Jimmy Fallon (623).

Past celebrity inductees include former NFL stars Lynn Swann and Jerome Bettis and former baseball player and analyst Tom Candiotti.
