Coaches fortunate enough to have Heisman Trophy candidates on their teams are always lobbying on the players’ behalf.

So it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Texas Coach Mack Brown says Vince Young should be given the 2005 Heisman Trophy if the Heisman Trophy Trust decides to take it away from former USC running back Reggie Bush.

‘Vince was second in the voting, so even if they re-voted, I would like to see Vince get it,’ said Brown on ‘The Dan Patrick Show’ on Monday.

Of course, even Brown admitted that talk of handing over the trophy to Young was ‘irrelevant’ at this point because the Heisman Trophy Trust hadn’t decided whether it would allow Bush to keep the trophy.

Shortly after the NCAA slapped USC with sanctions in June for violations related to Bush receiving illegal benefits, the Heisman Trophy Trust said it had no timetable for a final decision. ‘Until the matter has been fully considered and a decision is reached, the Trust has no further comment,’ the group said in a statement.

But what do you think?
