Ducks sign winger Kyle Palmieri to entry-level contract

The Anaheim Ducks signed right wing Kyle Palmieri to an entry-level contract worth $2.43 million over three years plus a $90,000 signing bonus each of those years.

Palmieri, selected in the first round (26th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, just completed his freshman season at Notre Dame of the Central Collegiate Hockey Assn. (CCHA) and had nine goals and 17 points in 33 contests.

He ranked tied for first in club rookie scoring and tied for 10th in CCHA rookie scoring. The 5-10, 191-pound winger was also a member of Team USA’s gold medal-winning squad at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship. While with the U.S. Under-18 team in 2008-09, Palmieri scored 15 goals, including four game-winning ones, and 30 points.
