Clippers: Eric Gordon makes the cut for Team USA

USA Basketball Chairman Jerry Colangelo announced the final 13-man roster for the U.S. team that will participate in the 2010 FIBA World Championship tournament in Turkey, and Clippers guard Eric Gordon made the cut.

Gordon, who was one of 15 finalists vying for a spot on the team, will be joined on the team by:

Denver guard Chauncey Billups, Dallas center Tyson Chandler, Golden State guard Stephen Curry, Oklahoma City forward Kevin Durant, Memphis forward Rudy Gay, Indiana forward Danny Granger, Philadelphia guard Andre Iquodala, Minnesota forward-center Kevin Love, Lakers forward Lamar Odom, Boston guard Rajon Rondo, Chicago guard Derrick Rose and Oklahoma City guard Russell Westbrook.

The team, coached by Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, will play an exhibition against France on Sunday at Madison Square Garden before traveling on Monday to Madrid, Spain, where it will practice from Tuesday through Friday. Team USA will play three more exhibition games, against Lithuania (Aug 21.) and Spain (Aug. 22) in Madrid and against Greece in Athens (Aug. 25).

The world championships will be Aug. 28-Sept. 12 in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir and Kayser. Twenty-four teams will be competing, with the United States playing in Group B for the preliminary round. Brazil, Croatia, Iran, Slovenia and Tunisia are also in the group. The U.S. will open against Croatia on Aug. 28.
