Brandon Wood finalizes plans to play in Arizona Fall League

Angels infielder Brandon Wood, whose offensive struggles cost him the starting third-base job in July, will play for the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League. The season runs from Oct. 12 to Nov. 20, with teams playing six days a week.

Wood, who lives in Scottsdale, Ariz., wanted to play winter ball in Latin America in hopes of getting enough at-bats to regain his stroke and confidence, but he is getting married in early December and wanted to remain close to home.

He will be joined on the Solar Sox, who play their home games at Hohokam Park in Mesa, Ariz., by five other Angels prospects: pitchers Ryan Brasier, Robert Fish, Stephen Geltz and Eddie McKiernan and infielder Andrew Romine.
