Spanish players Sergio Busquets and Pedro Rodriguez were robbed ahead of their World Cup semifinal win over Germany in Durban, South Africa. Spanish media reported the players’ rooms were broken into ahead of their 1-0 victory on Wednesday, with Busquets losing documents and about $1,000 in cash while Pedro reportedly lost about $1,200 from his safe. Busquets said Friday that ‘nobody likes to be robbed ... but I’ll exchange all of my documents for the World Cup.’ Three Greek players also had money stolen from their hotel rooms just outside Durban earlier in the tournament, while the English team had money, clothing and other items taken from their rooms at the team’s luxury hotel outside Rustenburg. -- Kevin Baxter in Johannesburg, South Africa
