Former USC football Coach Pete Carroll tweeted ‘Congrats!’ to new Trojans Athletic Director Pat Haden on his Twitter account Tuesday morning.

‘Wish pat haden the very best in taking over as USC AD!,’ Carroll wrote. ‘I’ll support in any way. Congrats!’

Carroll, who left USC after the 2009 Emerald Bowl showing to take over as Seattle Seahawks head coach, was subjected to some criticism for departing in the wake of NCAA scrutiny that ultimately led to a two-year bowl ban, along with scholarship losses and recruiting cuts for USC’s failure to effectively monitor improper benefits given to former Heisman Trophy winning running back Reggie Bush and his family.

USC has appealed its punishment, but it’s uncertain how that response will now be viewed with Carroll and Garrett removed after the loss of institutional control.
