The Pacific 10 Conference football media day is underway under the Tuscan, uh, Pasadena sun at the Rose Bowl.

Kickoff was a video that proclaimed that in the Pac-10, “football is more than just a game.” Some might say it is also an NCAA investigation.

The conference’s new logo has a mountain in the center, even though there are no schools from mountain regions until Colorado and Utah join.

But some things do not change, including those wearing Rose Bowl-colored glasses. Washington State defensive end Kevin Kooyman, talking about the Cougars’ chances, said, “Football is football, no matter what the media says.”

Football is indeed football, and Washington State football has a 3-22 record the last two seasons.

But it is media day, and Washington State is currently undefeated.
