If the Pacific 10 Conference had succeeded in its quest to expand to 16 teams, adding Oklahoma, Arizona Coach Mike Stoops might have faced his brother Bob, who coaches the Sooners, on a regular basis.

Speaking at Pac-10 media day, Mike said it would have been an ‘uncomfortable situation’ and one that he wouldn’t have relished.

But it’s a situation that is, perhaps, unavoidable with so many of the Stoops brothers in college football. Bob has already faced yet another brother, Mark, the defensive coordinator at Miami.

Mike said he could think of only one circumstance in which he would like to face off against a brother.

‘Hopefully, we can play them in the Rose Bowl,’ he said. ‘For the national championship game.’
