Diamondbacks pushing to trade Edwin Jackson, Chris Snyder

The Dodgers acquired outfielder Scott Podsednik on Wednesday and the San Diego Padres added infielder Miguel Tejada on Thursday, but the last-place team in the National League West is busy trying to get rid of players.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are trying hard to deal pitcher Edwin Jackson and catcher Chris Snyder by Saturday's trade deadline. Jackson is scheduled to make $8.35 million next year and Snyder is set to make $5.75 million.

The Diamondbacks do not wish to pay either salary. They already took Dan Haren's $12.75-million salary next season off their payroll by trading him to the Angels, but the Diamondbacks are trying to save $23 million to cover raises for a core of players, including outfielders Justin Upton and Chris Young and infielder Mark Reynolds.
