Days after the announcement of his next bout, boxer Manny Pacquiao spent his first day on the job in his new role as a congressman, attending the opening of the 15th Philippine Congress as well as President Benigno Aquino III’s State of the Nation address in Quezon City on Monday.

According to the International Sports Examiner, Pacquiao, who represents Sarangani Province, received an extensive applause from hundreds in the national legislature and cast his first vote as a legislator, supporting fellow Liberal Party member Rep. Feliciano Belmonte Jr. of Quezon City as the new speaker of the House of Representatives.

The Examiner has more details and a slide show of Pacquiao’s day (and judging from the above photo, it was quite an exciting day).
