World Cup: Snakes alive, it’s a David Beckham sighting (sort of)!

David Beckham -- remember him, Southern California? -- was at England’s match in Rustenburg, South Africa, on Monday afternoon. Before that, the Galaxy/AC Milan/England midfielder was at the U.S.-Australia game on Saturday in Roodepoort.

Whether he encountered any snakes in either location is unclear, but columnist Dom Joly of England’s Independent newspaper believes it’s quite possible that he did. He even wrote a column about it.

Whether Becks or England Coach Fabio Capello appreciated the humor is open to question, but it certainly went down well in these quarters. Here is the column and, believe me, it’s well worth the read.
