One of those at Ellis Park stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Friday afternoon was David Moyes, the coach of Everton in the English Premier League, who was commentating on the U.S.-Slovenia match.

That prompted an English reporter to ask Landon Donovan in the aftermath of the U.S. team’s 2-2 tie with Slovenia whether he thought his performance had impressed Moyes enough for Moyes to offer Donovan a permanent move to Everton.

‘I think Mr. Moyes has seen me play plenty to have made that decision beforehand,’ Donovan said. ‘So, we’ll see what happens.’

Donovan went on loan from the Galaxy to Everton during the MLS off-season and it seems a more long-term arrangement is not entirely beyond the realm of possibility. Whether any such move would occur during the summer transfer window or after the MLS season ends is unknown, but Galaxy fans had best be prepared.
