UCLA softball defeats Hawaii, stays unbeaten at College World Series

UCLA defeated Hawaii, 5-2, in a winners’ bracket game Friday night in Oklahoma City as senior right-hander Megan Langenfeld shut down one of college softball’s top offenses.

Hawaii, 50-15 overall and 1-1 at the College World Series, came into the matchup averaging 7.5 runs a game.

Langenfeld gave up six hits, striking out six with one walk in improving her record to 13-1.

Hawaii’s runs came on a two-run homer by Alexandra Aguirre in the fourth inning.

UCLA, 47-11 overall and 2-0 in CWS games, hit three home runs -- solo shots by Andrea Harrison and Julie Burney, and a two-run shot by Samantha Camuso.

Langenfeld and GiOnna DiSalvatore each had two hits, along with Burney.

UCLA next plays Sunday at 10 a.m. PDT against an opponent to be determined.
