R.J. Johnson closes in on lead in NASCAR Late Model standings at Irwindale

R.J. Johnson, a driver from Canyon Country, won the NASCAR Late Model race at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale before an audience of 1,215 on Saturday night.

It was the third win of the season for Johnson in the NASCAR Late Models. Chris Holloway of Bakersfield was second, followed by Mike Johnson of Covina in third.

Nick Joanides, of Woodland Hills, the reigning Late Model champ at Irwindale, finished fifth and maintained his lead in the Late Model standings. He has a four-point lead over Johnson and Holloway, who are tied for second.
