The clock is ticking -- less than three days until the NBA draft -- and a big name is reportedly interested in the Clippers.

But it has nothing to do with on-court talent.

Nuggets Executive Vice President Mark Warkentien, according to the Denver Post, has asked his organization for permission to speak to Portland, the Clippers and Phoenix about front-office jobs. The report cites ‘multiple NBA sources.’

True, the Suns do have openings now in the front office. Plenty of them.

And Portland, well, is Portland. You don’t have to say much else.

Which brings us to the Clippers. Two thoughts: Highly regarded Neil Olshey was elevated to the position of general manager when Mike Dunleavy was dismissed in early March and deserves a shot of more than 20 minutes behind the desk.

And, secondly, always thought that the usual mode of operation is teams requesting the permission, not the other way around.

Just wondering when the NBA turned into a Sadie Hawkins dance?
