The Angels reactivated third baseman Brandon Wood, who went on the 15-day disabled list late last month amid a batting slump.

The Times’ Bill Shaikin reports that Wood will start at third tonight against the Milwaukee Brewers, and Maicer Izturis will start at shortstop in place of Erick Aybar, whose knee was injured Monday night when Milwaukee’s Casey McGehee took out the shortstop on a hard slide into second base. Aybar, however, has not been put on the DL.

Wood, who missed a total of 20 games, batted .196 with one home run in 13 rehab starts for triple-A Salt Lake. He will bat ninth against the Brewers.

To make room for Wood, the Angels optioned right-hander Rafael Rodriguez to Salt Lake. Stay tuned to latimes.com/sports for full coverage of tonight’s game.
