Sparks release Aisha Mohammed and Karina Figueroa

Aisha Mohammed and Karina Figueroa have been released by the Sparks.

Three more cuts will be announced Friday before the team travels to Arizona to face the Phoenix Mercury in Saturday's season opener.

Figueroa, a senior at Long Beach State, played a combined 25 minutes in the team's two preseason games. The 5-foot-8 guard had two points, three assists and a steal against China's national team. In the Sparks' second game against the San Antonio Silver Stars, she was zero for three from the field and snatched two rebounds.

Mohammed, a 6-foot-3 center from the University of Virginia, started against China's national team and had 11 points, 12 rebounds and a steal. In the 11 minutes she played against the Silver Stars, she contributed six points, two rebounds and one blocked shot.
