The Kings’ goaltender of the future, Jonathan Bernier, continues to play well for the Manchester Monarchs in the Calder Cup Atlantic Division finals.

Selected by the Kings in the first round of the 2006 entry draft, the 21-year-old Quebec native shut out the Worcester (Mass.) Sharks, 1-0, Wednesday night with 30 saves. The lone goal belonged to Monarchs left wing Bud Holloway, who tied the American Hockey League record for game-winning goals in a single playoff season with six. It was Bernier’s second shutout of these playoffs.

Bernier leads all goalies in the AHL playoffs with a 7-2 record, a 1.54 goals-against average and a .950 save percentage.

Manchester, the Kings’ New Hampshire-based affiliate, leads the series, 3-2, and hosts Game 6 on Friday at 4:30 p.m. PDT. A win would send the Monarchs to the Eastern Conference finals against the Hershey (Pa.) Bears.
