Chance to get close to Amgen Tour of California

May 11, 2010 |  3:45 pm

HTC-Columbia,  home team of the world's best cycling sprinter, Mark Cavendish and owned by Riverside's Bob Stapleton, is auctioning off  in conjunction with  Auction Cause, a package that will allow the winner to ride in the team car behind one of HTC-Columbia's racers during the Amgen Tour of California team time trial through downtown Los Angeles May 22. The stage is expected to play a big part in determining the winner of the race which runs May 16-23.

The auction winner will also get a 2009 Team Edition Scott Addict bike with race-quality Shimano components and two tickets to the movie premiere of "Chasing Legends," a chronicling of HTC-Columbia's efforts during the 2009 Tour de France (Cavendish won six stages). The movie is premiering Friday in Sacramento. The winner will also have the chance to meet HTC-Columbia riders after the movie. If the winner can't make it to Sacramento, he would go to another screening during the Tour of California.

Also, an HTC mobile phone (either an HD2 T-Mobile or HTC Incredible Verizon) will be part of the package.

All proceeds will be given to the charity Right to Play, which helps provide children around the world the chance to play sports. To participate in the auction click here.

The current bid is $2,550 and the auction will end Friday.
