Another night, another idiot running onto the field at Citizens Bank Park during a Phillies game.

One night after a police officer used a Taser to stop a teenager running around in the outfield, Thomas Betz of Warminster, Pa., hopped the left-field fence during the top of the ninth inning in the Phillies-Cardinals game Tuesday.

Unlike Monday’s controversial incident, police were not involved in the subsequent chase, and Betz was apprehended by security guards without incident -- much to the disappointment of the fans chanting ‘Tase him!’

Betz was charged with marijuana possession, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and other counts.

City police have started looking into whether officers should get involved in on-field chases of non-threatening fans.

They might want to make a quick decision -- after all, there are still two more games left in this series, plenty more chances for every other copycat out there to take a shot at whatever it is these people are trying to accomplish.
