Angels starting pitcher Scott Kazmir will open the season on the disabled list in the wake of shoulder and hamstring injuries that have slowed him this spring, but the left-hander is expected to miss only one start before making his season debut in less than two weeks against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

Angels Manager Mike Scioscia said Kazmir would build the stamina needed to pitch in a major league game by starting Sunday in a minor league camp game in Arizona and then starting for Class-A Rancho Cucamonga before pitching against the Yankees sometime during a series that spans April 13-15.

Matt Palmer will take Kazmir’s first turn in the rotation and start Friday against Oakland at Angel Stadium.

The Angels’ final spots on the 25-man roster Saturday went to catcher Bobby Wilson, infielder/outfielder Robb Quinlan and outfielder Terry Evans.
