L.A. Galaxy players come to a (reading) garden party at elementary school in Compton

Omar Gonzalez, Edson Buddle and Todd Dunivant help out volunteers in building a rEading Garden for Stephen C. Foster Elementary in Compton
Members of the L.A. Galaxy spent part of Earth Day at Stephen C. Foster elementary school in Compton helping students and volunteers building a Reading Garden, which will serve as serene spot on campus where students can read books.

Construction of the garden was the culmination of four days of Earth Day events after Stephen C. Foster edged out students from other elementary schools in more than half a dozen other cities in a Reading Garden Challenge.

The Los Angeles Galaxy Foundation and the Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation are among the financial backers of the initiative.
