The Anaheim Ducks, in the midst of a frantic playoff drive, called up rugged defenseman Nathan Oystrick from Chicago of the American Hockey League on Thursday.

Oystrick, 27, whom the Ducks acquired in a March 1 trade with Atlanta, appeared in 43 games for Chicago and ranked second in penalty minutes. Oystrick played 53 NHL games with the Atlanta Thrashers.
