The Minnesota Twins were welcomed to Southern California by Sunday’s earthquake, which struck just as the team took the field at Angel Stadium for a workout.
‘Thank you for that,’ Twins Manager Ron Gardenhire said Monday after making out his lineup for his team’s season opener with the Angels. Gardenhire, however, said his players had recovered from the shaking.
On the Angels’ side, a huge crowd of Japanese reporters followed Hideki Matsui around as the designated hitter prepared for his first major league game in a uniform other than the Yankees. Matsui will bat cleanup in his Angel debut.
