New USC football Coach Lane Kiffin apparently is keeping it all in the family.

Kiffin’s younger brother, Chris, told Steven Sipple of the Lincoln Journal Star that he would be joining the Trojans’ staff as a defensive administrative assistant. Chris Kiffin, 28, was an offensive intern last season at Nebraska under Coach Bo Pelini.

Monte Kiffin, father of Lane and Chris, is USC’s defensive coordinator.

“The No. 1 thing for me was going to work for my father,” Chris Kiffin told the newspaper. “That’s what made it an easy decision for me. Obviously, leaving Nebraska is the tough part, because it’s been so great here. Working for Coach Pelini has been so great.

“I loved the atmosphere created in the athletic department. And it doesn’t hurt that I met my wife here.”

USC officials would not confirm Chris Kiffin’s hiring.
