USC basketball: O'Neill decides not to retain two assistant coaches

Kevin USC men's basketball Coach Kevin O'Neill has decided not to retain two assistant coaches that were part of Tim Floyd's staff, a source close to the situation told The Times Monday.

O'Neill notified assistants Gib Arnold and Phil Johnson that they will no longer be a part of the staff, said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the announcement is not yet official.

Their departures will leave Bob Cantu as the only assistant to remain on staff from when Floyd coached the team last season.

More to come soon at latimes.com/sports.
