TEMPE, Ariz. -- Former closer Troy Percival joined the Angels’ camp this week as a guest instructor, but don’t expect another comeback from the right-hander, who felt so good during his stint as a guest instructor in 2007 that he came out of retirement that summer and played another year and a half in the big leagues.

‘I only brought one pair of turf shoes, that’s it,’ Percival said. ‘I didn’t even bring my cleats. If I did, I’d probably be too tempted.’

Percival, who appeared in 14 games for the Tampa Bay Rays last season, has been busy coaching his son’s Little League team and has no plans for another comeback.

‘At that point, I still had the desire to play,’ Percival said of his 2007 comeback. ‘Right now, I love what I’m doing. I didn’t even know spring training games had started until I saw something in the paper the other day.’
