Andy Roddick, seeded seventh, beat 18th-seeded Tommy Robredo for the 11th time in a row, and Roddick’s 6-3, 7-5 win over the Spaniard in the quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open on Friday afternoon at Indian Wells Tennis Garden took only 1 hour, 18 minutes.

It is the fourth semifinal here for Roddick. Twice he has lost to Rafael Nadal in the semis, but this year Nadal will play Ivan Ljubicic for a berth in the final (Happy Birthday to Ljubicic, who turned 31 on Friday). Roddick will play the winner of the final men’s quarterfinal between fourth-seeded Andy Murray and sixth-seeded Robin Soderling of Sweden.
