Pac-10 women's basketball: Oregon State upsets Washington, 52-42

March 11, 2010 | 10:13 pm

The seventh-seeded Washington Huskies led 10th-seeded Oregon State, 20-2, in the first half Thursday, and it looked like curtains for the Beavers.

But OSU fought back to trim the deficit, which at halftime stood 24-22, and in the second half the Beavers gained the lead and held on to win, 52-42, at the Galen Center.

They advance to Friday's quarterfinal round of the State Farm Pac-10 women's tournament against UCLA. Tipoff is at 7:15 p.m.

Guard Julie Futch led OSU with 17 points on five-of-11 shooting from the floor. Forward Sami Whitcomb led UW with 18 points on seven-of-14 shooting. From the free-throw line, Oregon State went 11 of 22 while Washington made two of five shots.

The Beavers lost both games against the Bruins in the regular season by a combined 47 points.
