Ducks’ Teemu Selanne, Ryan Getzlaf leave ice with injuries

A spirited performance by the Ducks became filled with concern Sunday when Teemu Selanne -- one goal shy of 600 for his NHL career -- and Ryan Getzlaf left the ice with injuries in the third period of the Ducks’ game against San Jose at the Honda Center.

Selanne scored his 599th goal in the first period with the Ducks on their way to a 3-0 lead, and was buzzing around the net all night looking for his 600th.

He was injured with 18:16 left in the game when he slid hard into the boards behind the goal after tripping on the stick of San Jose’s Kent Huskins as he skated down the right side and tried to convert a pass from Saku Koivu. Selanne was said to have an upper-body injury and will undergo tests on Monday.

Selanne stayed down on both knees for a time while he was attended to by a trainer and surrounded by teammates before rising to one knee and skating off unassisted.

Getzlaf walked into the dressing room shortly afterward when he re-injured his left ankle -- the same one he injured previous to the Olympics. Getzlaf, who left the arena in a walking boot, also will be evaluated further on Monday and is listed as day to day.
