The Ducks’ Teemu Selanne -- one goal shy of 600 NHL goals -- practiced on Tuesday and appears likely to play Wednesday against the Chicago Blackhawks at the Honda Center.

Selanne scored his 599th goal Sunday against San Jose but left the game in the third period after sliding hard into the boards. He has a slightly sprained left shoulder that requires pain medication but said his head is clear despite a bruise on his forehead.

His teammates were trying earnestly to set him up for No. 600 Sunday, but Selanne said the milestone isn’t why he’s trying to get back.

‘That’s not the motivation. We still have a chance to battle for the playoffs,’ he said. ‘We’ll keep fighting as long as we have a chance. You never know what can happen.’

Center Ryan Getzlaf didn’t skate Tuesday after aggravating the sprained left ankle that threatened to keep him out of the Olympics. He said it is sore, but he might play.

‘It’s definitely a strong possibility I’ll be playing, especially the situation we’re in, fighting for our lives,’ Getzlaf said.

Winger George Parros, who was treated and released from UCI Medical Center on Sunday after being struck in the head by a puck during the morning skate, practiced Tuesday and is available to play.
