Michelle Wie at one-under par through nine holes at Kia Classic

Michelle Wie made the turn at one-under par in Thursday’s first round of the Kia Classic at La Costa Resort and Spa.

Playing in the featured group of the day with Juli Inkster and Jiyai Shin, the leading money winner on the LPGA last year, Wie made a bogey on the par-five third hole, but rebounded with birdies at No. 4 and 6.

Shin and Inkster were both even through nine holes — Inkster the result of a double bogey at the ninth.
