Maria Sharapova, who was upset Sunday by Zheng Jie of China 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 at the BNP Paribas Open and afterward complained about pain near her right elbow, announced Wednesday that she was withdrawing from the Miami tournament next week because of a bone bruise on her elbow. According to her spokesperson, the injury is not the same as what caused Sharapova to have shoulder surgery nearly two years ago, but it will sideline her for three to six weeks.
