Manager Mike Scioscia wanted Scott Kazmir to throw about 45 pitches in his first exhibition start Monday in Tempe Diablo Stadium, but the Angels’ left-hander nearly hit his limit in the first inning.

Kazmir, who was slowed this spring by a sore hamstring, needed 32 pitches to complete the first inning, in which the Dodgers scored two runs on two hits and two walks. Garret Anderson and Casey Blake each hit run-scoring singles against Kazmir.

Kazmir did throw a scoreless second but needed a nice double play started by shortstop Maicer Izturis to get out of the inning. Kazmir was pulled from the game with one out in the third inning and finished with 48 pitches, allowing two runs and five hits.
